GRANUFLO

GRANUFLO

GranuFlo is a dry acid treatment that is used as part of the dialysis process to help clean the blood of individuals with kidney impairments.  . However, recent information shows that GranuFlo may also increase patients’ risk of having a heart attack.

GranuFlois manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care, one of the largest dialysis product manufacturers in the world. Fresenius discovered that GranuFlo had an inherent dosing problem because it makes the body produce bicarbonate.  Fresnius did not stop selling the product, despite the fact that an overdose of bicarbonate runs a high risk of sudden cardiac arrest.

Patients receiving dialysis treatments containing GranuFlo® have experienced various, serious side effects as a result of being administered this drug. Side effects may include:

  • Stroke
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Sudden Cardiac Death
  • Metabolic Alkalosis
  • Heart Attack
  • Cardiovascular Death
  • Hypotension
  • Myocardial Infarction
  • Cardiopulmonary Arrest

On March 29, 2012, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Class 1 recall of GranuFlo, dialysis products manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care.  If you think that you or a loved one has been injured by this dialysis drug, please contact Goldberg Simpson, LLC.  Our attorneys can keep you advised on your rights and choices.
